North Marine was engaged to recover the stranded vessel Turtle Cat from Liverpool Creek following a series of complex salvage operations undertaken between April and June 2026. After an initial site inspection, multiple recovery attempts were carried out as the salvage methodology was progressively refined to suit the vessel’s condition, tidal influences and challenging site environment.
Scope of Work
The scope of work included salvage planning, mobilisation of specialist personnel, workboats and recovery equipment, installation and management of lift bags and buoyancy systems, refloating the vessel and towing it to Liverpool Creek Boat Ramp. Following the successful recovery in June 2026, the vessel was demolished and disposed of at an approved facility. The project also included environmental protection measures, recovery of all salvage equipment and a final site inspection to ensure the area was left clear of debris.
