Through these partnerships and initiatives, North Marine supports marine conservation, community development, employment pathways and positive environmental outcomes across the regions in which we live and operate.
North Marine proudly established the Commercial Diving Traineeship Program, the first of its kind in Far North Queensland, providing structured training and formal qualifications to support long-term careers in the maritime industry.
The first group of trainees completed the program in 2022 and we continue to invest in training, professional development and career pathways to build local maritime capability.
We are also committed to supporting greater participation of women in maritime, creating opportunities for women to develop careers across marine operations, commercial diving, logistics and leadership roles.
North Marine supports Indigenous employment pathways through engagement with AFL Cape York House and provides maritime work experience opportunities for Year 12 students in Cairns, giving young people practical exposure to careers on the water.
Our team also contributes to community initiatives through volunteer programs, including PCYC Queensland’s Breaking the Cycle Mentor Program.
Environmental responsibility has been part of North Marine’s operations since its beginnings, with the company originally pioneering mooring infrastructure designed to reduce anchor damage to sensitive reef environments.
Today, our operations are supported by an Environmental Management System certified to ISO 14001, helping ensure environmental considerations are incorporated into the planning and delivery of our projects.
We work alongside Traditional Owners, scientists, researchers and marine specialists to minimise environmental impacts and support responsible operations in sensitive marine and coastal environments.
North Marine also contributes vessels, crew and marine expertise to environmental research, reef monitoring, marine debris reduction and conservation initiatives throughout Far North Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef region.
We continue to identify practical ways to reduce emissions, improve operational efficiency, minimise waste and support the long-term sustainability of the marine environments in which we operate.
