In April / May 2026, North Marine was engaged by Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) to undertake the salvage, removal and disposal of the derelict vessels Angela B and Ina from Gin’s Camp Beach (Yingalinda Beach), located between the Murray and Tully Rivers in Far North Queensland.
Scope of Work
The project involved the recovery of two vessels from a remote and environmentally sensitive coastal location with no direct road access to the wreck sites. Extensive planning, reconnaissance and site inspections were undertaken to assess vessel condition, environmental risks, access constraints and suitable recovery methodologies prior to mobilisation.
North Marine deployed a combination of marine assets, heavy equipment and specialist salvage personnel to complete the works. Recovery operations included vessel stabilisation, controlled demolition, segregation of waste materials, transport of recovered debris and lawful disposal at approved facilities. Works were carefully coordinated around tidal conditions, weather windows and site access limitations to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
Throughout the operation, strict environmental controls were implemented to minimise impacts on the surrounding coastal environment. Following completion of the salvage works, both sites were inspected and cleared of debris, ensuring the area was left in a safe, clean and environmentally compliant condition.
