Salvage of ‘Faithy May’ – Torres Strait, Queensland

Between August and September 2026, North Marine successfully salvaged Faithy May, a 14.8 metre timber vessel submerged in approximately 17 metres of water near Horn Island in the Torres Strait. The complex operation involved multiple recovery attempts, commercial diving, specialist lifting equipment and marine support vessels. Despite strong tidal currents and the vessel’s deteriorated condition, North Marine adapted its recovery methodology to successfully raise, relocate and dismantle the wreck while minimising environmental impacts.

Salvage of ‘Sai Narm’ & ‘Ada Dan’ – Torres Strait, Queensland

North Marine successfully completed the salvage and removal of two derelict fibreglass vessels, Ada Dan and Sai Narm, near Horn Island in the Torres Strait. The project involved specialist marine vessels, commercial divers and heavy recovery equipment. Tailored salvage methods were used to overcome challenging site conditions while minimising environmental impacts on surrounding reef and mangrove habitats.

Reef Restoration & Adaptation Program (RRAP) – Great Barrier Reef, Queensland

Since 2025, North Marine has proudly supported the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) Reef Restoration and Adaptation Program (RRAP) Pilot Deployments Program, delivering ongoing liveaboard vessel charters, marine logistics and offshore operational support for coral restoration activities across the Great Barrier Reef.

Salvage of ‘Juniper’ – Magnetic Island, Queensland

In May 2026, North Marine provided specialist salvage support for the recovery of Juniper, an approximately 25-tonne sailing vessel submerged in Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island. Working alongside NQ Marine Tow & Salvage, the team successfully refloated, dewatered and recovered the vessel following a challenging three-day salvage operation.

Salvage of ‘Wantok’, ‘Reunion’ & ‘Coopers Boat’ – Far North Queensland

Between April and May 2026, North Marine completed the salvage and disposal of three derelict vessels across Far North Queensland for Maritime Safety Queensland. Operating across multiple remote creek and estuary locations, the project demonstrated North Marine’s capability to safely deliver complex vessel recovery and removal works in environmentally sensitive waterways.

Bloomfield River – Far North Queensland

In August 2025, North Marine delivered cargo transport, pile removal, and pontoon installation at Bloomfield River. Using Pacific Ranger and WBIV, over 69 tonnes of cargo were mobilised, supported by onsite dive operations. An ADAS-certified team safely removed submerged piles, demonstrating North Marine’s fleet capability, flexible logistics, and expertise in high-risk environments.

War on Wrecks Salvages – North Queensland

As part of Maritime Safety Queensland’s War on Wrecks initiative, North Marine is engaged in the recovery, removal, and disposal of derelict vessels across the Cairns region. These operations aim to improve navigational safety, protect sensitive marine environments, and reduce pollution risks by removing abandoned and deteriorating vessels from coastal waterways. North Marine’s role involves tailored salvage solutions for each site, including vessel recovery, environmentally responsible disposal, and site rehabilitation where needed, while ensuring full compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
