North Marine was engaged to conduct an urgent tow of a 70.3-meter cargo barge from the Port of Brisbane to Skardon River in Queensland, via Cairns. Client: TSA (Transhipment Services Australia) Scope of Work - Barge Towage: Brisbane to Skardon River in Queensland North Marine is well established at conducting extended marine tugboat assignments throughout the Pacific. The 1750-nautical-mile encumbered tow required pre-tow surveys, coastal pilotage and multi-port stops. As always, communication between all stakeholders was critical to a successful and efficient operation. This included planning and coordination with regulatory bodies, marine surveyors, insurance agents, pilot companies and the client. North Marine engaged local third-party workboats to assist with the outbound transit through the Port of Brisbane. Our excellent working relationship with the relevant authorities, marinas and industry partners prove invaluable in delivering a seamless service. Working within the environmental controls of the Great Barrier Reef is something that North Marine is highly established in. The tow was completed safely and without incident, despite challenging operating conditions. Tugboat Assist for Bulk Carrier’s Ocean Crossing in the Torres Strait

Scope of Work North Marine provided a tugboat assist to a 180-meter, 25,000 gross-ton cargo bulk carrier, the 'M.V. Funing'. Our charter tug assisted the bulk carrier's voyage from Bligh Entrance through the Prince of Wales Channel in the Torres Strait, Queensland. Project Brief - Tugboat Assist in Torres Strait The North Marine tugboat 'Gulf Explorer' mobilised to the Torres Strait from the Port of Cairns, Queensland. She assisted with the ship's tug escort from here, taking up the stern tow position. An 80-meter super tug took the forward tow position. The Gulf Explorer's tug escort voyage involved transiting through a narrow passage of the Great Barrier Reef. Commencing at Bligh Entrance, near Bramble Cay, the tow assist passed via the Prince of Wales Channel in the Torres Strait. The Gulf Explorer's role is to assist the bulk carrier in holding straight and limit yawing during the narrow ocean crossing. Project Outcome The bulk carrier M.V. Funning made its transit safely and on schedule. The crossing was successful with no delays.

Technical Support to Bulk Carrier – Emergency Queensland Launch Service to Hay Point, Mackay

North Marine crew were mobilised to provide urgent technical support to a 44,000-ton international bulk carrier, whose anchor chain was entangled off the coast of Mackay, QLD. Client: Marine Engineering Solutions; as ships agent for The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) is a Government enterprise and is the largest Indian owned shipping company. Scope of Work Two North Marine crew launched by helicopter from the Port of Mackay to the international bulk carrier. The vessel 'Vishva Vijay' was anchoring at Hay Point off the coast of Queensland. The 44,000-ton bulk carrier vessel had been rendered immobile due to a knot in the substantial 92mm chain, which was supporting a 7-ton anchor. After the anchor and chain's weight were secure, North Marine technicians used oxy-acetylene tools to cut the entanglement and install a new kenter linking shackle.   24-Hour Queensland Launch Service / Marine Support North marine offers a 24-hour launch service and emergency marine support to vessels in Queensland, Australia. North Marine is contracted to install a cyclone-rated, 360° boat swing mooring at Port Kennedy, Thursday Island in the Torres Strait for the state-Government owned shipping company, Sea Swift.   Client: Sea Swift Sea Swift is Northern Australia's largest shipping company and is owned by the State Government, Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC). Scope of Work Northern Australia's largest shipping company, Sea Swift, requires cyclone moorings rated to hold cargo vessels up to 500-ton in weight to be installed at Port Kennedy, Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. North Marine commercial divers install 360-degree swing moorings, each consisting of a 54mm stud-link chain running out to three Stingray anchors. Our experienced dive personnel and project managers are adept at operating in remote locations. North Marine currently installs and maintains all vessel moorings for the state Government-owned corporation, throughout Queensland. The remote location demands environmental, logistical and stakeholder considerations. Extensive planning includes coordinating local contractors, approvals and consultation with naval architects and the applicable Authorities.
